Check Out A Pilates Workout Video

Everyone wants great abs these days. Whether you’re weight training, trying to trim some fat or just hoping to stay healthy, every exercise plan these days will have a portion devoted to getting rock hard, lean, perfectly cut abs. One great way to do this is with a pilates workout video.

Why, exactly, should you try pilates? Well, this system is all about the abs. Or rather, it’s all about self control, focus, synchronizing the body and mind, and a big part of having tight control of your own body is to workout your torso, specifically the mid-section. If you ever take a look at older martial artists, even some of the classic pro-wrestlers, they tend to have a lot of muscular density around the mid-section, simply because this is where the control of your body really comes from.

Many people ask “Is pilates just a fad?” It may be too soon to tell whether or not the system will remain in practice for another hundred years, but it’s certainly not passing quickly. In fact, it was developed around a century ago and is still a major part of the western fitness world.

Now if you want to get started, there are actually somewhere around fourteen thousand so called “experts” currently instructing in the US alone. So why go with a training video? Well, do you really have the time and money to attend an hour or two hour long class every single day? Or are you looking for a workout program you can do at home, and for free?

Joseph Pilates, the German born physician who invented the system, developed it as a rehabilitation program for war veterans after WWI. The aim was to teach focus, coordination, to strengthen the midsection, and to help shell shocked soldiers learn to develop a better control of their own bodies.

So it’s all about precision of movement, and, again, that comes from the midsection. As the founder himself put it, the system isn’t just a collection of exercises, but rather, a series of techniques that were refined and developed over decades, and finally organized into a cohesive plan of action.

If you want to get started, take some time to check out a few books to develop a deeper understanding of the system. A video can show you the actual exercises, but you’ll want to read up on the system in order to know exactly what these exercises are doing, how they’re helping you, and what sort of mental benefits are there for you to pursue in pilates.

It’s worth noting that there’s really no organization that certifies and regulates pilates. As such, anyone who’s taken a couple classes can legally start their own school, so there are a lot of shysters out there. Now, if you want to make sure that the video you’re grabbing is worthwhile, just look for user reviews. That’s all that really counts in the end: The results people can get from this or that instructor or instructional video.
