Now Whey Protein Isolate

Whey Protein Isolate is generally referred to as the most pure and concentrated form of Whey Protein. Whey Protein Isolate has little to no fat, lactose, or cholesterol, which makes it a perfect ‘diet’ food. Whey Protein Isolate is very easy to digest and efficiently absorbed into the body. Whey Protein Isolate is no less than 90% protein and has added L-Glutamine for more efficient recovery of muscle tissue.

Whey Protein Isolate is sold in powder form and typically costs more than a normal blend. It may be purchased in nutrition or health product stores, in many large grocery stores, or directly from suppliers on the Internet.

Whey Protein Concentrate or Whey Protein Isolate - Which is Better?

The two most common whey protein supplements are whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate. Whey protein concentrate is produced by a process known as ultra filtration, a low temperature process that uses pressure and a porous membrane to separate the fat and lactose from untreated sweet whey.

Whey protein from fat and lactose using high-tech ceramic filters produces a whey protein isolate comprised of approximately 90% protein, <1% fat and <1% lactose. A third process known as Ion-Exchange can also be used to produce whey protein isolate.

Whilst whey protein isolate is marketed as a superior product to whey protein concentrate, in most respects it is actually inferior due to its significantly lower levels (whey protein concentrate contains up to 800% more) of a group of bioactive compounds known as ‘growth factors’ (IGF-1, IGF-2, TGF-B, PDGF and FGF).
